Position Title : Logistics Assistant (Shelter/NFI/WASH)
Duty Station : Gitega, Burundi

Organizational Context and Scope:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, under direct supervision of the head of sub office and with technical support of the Shelter/NFI/WASH Project Officer; successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of the Shelter, NFI and WASH project activities through active participation in activities and logistics support, to ensure the effective and efficient realization of objectives.

FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

1. Support the implementation of IOM Burundi’s Shelter and NFI activities in the field.
2. Support the Logistics operations in close coordination with Procurement and Logistics Officer to support warehouse activities, monitoring, asset handling, truck loading, and offloading to support the needs of Shelter, NFI, WASH activities.
3. Support liaising with key stakeholders and ensure that IDPs/returnees are aware of the project activities.
4. Follow-up and coordinate with Logistics on the submission of warehouse reports weekly. Ensure timely feedback to the Project manager, Procurement and Logistics Officer, and HoSo to ensure stock levels are adequate to support the needs of Shelter, NFI, WASH activities.
5. Organize and facilitate meetings, trainings, field visits and workshops relative to Shelter and NFI.
6. Report on own activities in an efficient, clear and comprehensive manner. Assist in preparing periodic narrative progress, field, interim and final reports for the Shelter and NFI activities.
7. Effectively follow-up on deadlines, commitments, action points and deliverables.
8. Undertake duty travel as required.
9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Management, Social Science, communication, or any discipline relative with three years of experience. Secondary school with five years of experience.
2. Working experience with International Organizations or INGOs
3. Experience in the field in Logistics, Warehousing and asset handling is a strong advantage.
4. Experience in Shelter, WASH and/or NFI projects, in distributions, is a strong advantage.
5. Excellent writing, communication, and negotiation skills.
6. Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results; capacity to work effectively and
harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
7. Good command of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
8. Excellent knowledge of the Burundian context and culture.
9. Knowledge of current best practices, technical guidelines, and standards in provision of emergency
and transitional shelter is an advantage.

Languages

• Fluency in French, Kirundi is required.
• Working knowledge of English
